Tips For Working From Home: Staying Focused During COVID-19

COVID-19 has radically shifted the way we work. For many, working from home is a new reality, which comes with unexpected changes. Some are finding that balancing their work life and family life is easier than they previously thought. While others are discovering they miss the interaction with their co-workers and general office distractions.

Staying focused during COVID-19

However you’re adjusting, there are certainly ways you can continue to keep the same patterns without falling into a downward spiral. To help, PayWow has compiled some tips for transitioning into a new work environment, even one that’s very familiar already.

Maintain a regular schedule – Don’t fall out of sync from your normal schedule. Keep your previous habits to limit distractions and stay focused.

Stay connected –  Stay in touch with family, friends and coworkers via video apps like FaceTime and Zoom. Sharing virtual dinners and Happy Hours together help keep us  connected.

Limit contact with others – It’s important to understand that staying apart now allows us to be together later. This is only permanent by not abiding by the requests of the Centers for Disease Control and government officials.

Exercise – Stay active and exercise (while adhering to social distancing). COVID-19 is especially devastating for those living with many types of pre-existing conditions.

Reduce media consumption – This can’t be stressed enough. The media can be our best and worst source for information during a pandemic. Use this time to take in a more positive uplifting medium. Or get outside and enjoy the weather, just don’t absorb every new story.

We hope some of these tips will help with your transition, if you’re working from home or even furloughed, during this unprecedented situation. This is a very difficult time but we’re in this together.
